Carnegie Airborne Observatory video of Amazon tropical forest structure and biodiversity showing incredible detail.

The map was created created using a Lidar (Light Detection and Ranging) which bounces a laser beam off the forest canopy 400,000 times per second. The data is then used to generate this three-dimensional map of the forest showing unprecedented detail.
